Tracy Downey, Executive Director, Prince Rupert Aboriginal Community Services Society
Tracy is from the Tsimshian Nation and her name is Ksem git sa’amł. Her background in Indigenous Justice goes back, 20 years. Most recently, she was appointed to the Justice Council in July of 2018 and is a member of the working group focusing on creating the Indigenous Justice Association. She received her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the University of Northern British Columbia in 2008 and has a certificate from the Justice Institute of British Columbia for Aboriginal Trauma. Over the years, she has also worked as a Family Group Conference Coordinator with the Vancouver Aboriginal Child & Family Services Society, and was an Aboriginal liaison worker with the Ministry of Children & Family Development’s Children and Youth Mental Health Services. Tracy is also the mother of two beautiful, now grown children.
